There are many different ways to be mindful and copious amounts of information on the web, and so sometimes it might seem intimidating. But being mindful can be as simple as spending a few minutes focusing on your breath. Here are a few mindfulness exercises to give you a taste:

Breathing Exercise:

Come to a comfortable seat with your hands gently resting on your knees or in your lap. Gently close your eyes and begin to focus on your breath. Begin to elongate the breath, slowing down each inhale and exhale. Notice how your body feels, the sounds and smells around you, and where your thoughts are moving. Count 10 inhales and exhales.

Gratitude Meditation:

Take a piece of paper and a writing utensil and list 5 people/things that you are grateful for. You do not have to write down the why (although you could), but spend some time thinking about the reason you chose those 5 people/things and what they add to your life.

The most important thing is to start this practice and try and do it every day. If you think you could benefit from the insight of teachers as well as a peer community of learners please see more information about our class.
